Themed Color Hunts

Image
While browsing through some of my preschool pages, I came across an idea that a parent came up with for her preschooler.  It was so fun and different and many other parents were very interested in making this activity for their own kids, and so was I.  I got on my computer and converted some of my clip art to create these color finding mats.  I then posted the item for free in the group where the idea originated, as well as in my TPT store (link at the bottom of the post).  Each themed packet includes the following colors: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple/violet, pink, black, white, grey/gray, and brown. I also created several themed versions of this idea. Heart Themed Color Find This heart themed color find would be perfect for Valentine's Day!  Each page features a heart that is to be cut out for the color find. Spring Flowers Themed Color Find This flower themed color find would be perfect for a spring themed activity!  ...

Alphabet Center Packets

Image
A new product series has been started in my shop and it involves the alphabet!  In getting ready for my son to learn his alphabet next year I have begun making these alphabet packets.  With these packets, you can incorporate letters across your entire curriculum from math to writing to reading to art!  Practice fine motor skills and recognition skills with these letter packets!  When all of the packets are finished, then they will be bundled together to make a whole alphabet curriculum! One thing my daughter loved and I am hoping my son does too are puzzles.  This packet contains 3 types of puzzles!  There are puzzles in each packet where students are expected to match the object to its beginning sound. Another set of puzzles are designed to introduce the idea of spelling words that start with the desired letter.  Each letter has its own puzzle piece and students put the puzzles together by spelling the word.  Since the picture of the wo...

Activities to do with Real Leaves!

Image
We are going on a leaf hunt!  We're going to find some colorful ones!  That is what we did today.  We went on a walk and found a bag full of colorful leaves.  This post will feature some great, free activities to do with leaves you find outside! The first thing we did is sort our leaves by color.  I simply took a large sheet of paper and drew the different color circles on it and let my kinder sort the leaves into the appropriate spots.  You can also graph the different colors to see which one you have the most or least of.  You can also have students choose a favorite color leaf and make a classroom graph. Next, we chose a few nicely textured leaves that laid flat and made leaf rubbings! I have never done rubbings with my kids before and my daughter was amazed that she just rubbed a crayon on the paper and the leaf came through.  She had to pick and try out several different leaves! Another art project we did was leaf prints....

Apples Apples Apples!

Image
Here is a collection of apple activities we have done this year!  I did these with my five year old and my 2 year old! Here was our first art project!  The letter outline we used can be found in my Lowercase Letter Outlines ! We got to be scientists as we studied what part of an apple floats or sinks.  The recording pages can be found in this Let's Be Scientists packet !  I wrote a more detailed blog post about it HERE !   We looked at and sequenced the life cycle of an apple.  We also did this art project where my kids colored their apple then tore red paper to decorate it!  My two year old LOVED ripping up the paper! These printables can be found in this Apple Themed Packet ! We used this hundred's chart number recognition activity to kick off our apple theme this year!  The number chart came from Simply Kinder but I could not find where the pattern we used came from. This is a neat little art project my son (2 ye...
