Halloween Crafts and Ideas!

Image
Halloween time offers such fun opportunities for unique crafts and activities!  I have highlighted the activities and crafts that my kids have really enjoyed! My daughter loved painting her own paper plate pumpkin!  Super simple craft for even the youngest of kids, just pain or color your paper plate orange and add a stem! I created this Hundreds Chart puzzle for my daughter with a pumpkin patch theme!  She has enjoyed putting it together over and over! We have a Halloween tradition where each kid gets to paint their own pumpkin.  My five year old did the purple one on the left, the 2 year old made the one on the right and I painted the one in the middle for the baby.  They will remain on our bar until Halloween when we place them outside for the trick-or-treaters.  Then they will go back on our counter until they are no longer good. Another pumpkin activity we did was this pumpkin mosaic.  My daughter insisted on making a pattern...

Kindergarten Week 9

I am so glad we are all feeling better!  While the boys have horrible congestion and cough, neither have fevers! It is so nice to not have to be tending to sick little ones for a change.  I want to get back to our normal. This week we continued our fall theme by doing this fun painting pumpkin craft.  My daughter insisted on doing it on her own.  I think she did well! We also did this hundreds chart puzzle of a pumpkin patch !  I simply printed the answer key for the puzzle and cut it apart in various shapes for my little girl to put together. We made some pumpkin decorations this week to display,  My five year old made the pumpkin on the left, my 2 year old did the one on the right and I made the one in the middle for the baby!  My daughter thought this was the best art project ever and was so excited to pick out her own pumpkin at the store! We are still learning how to spell our last name!  I made this letter cards for her ...

Kindergarten Week 7

So, this week was the first week since we started school where we did our lessons everyday! We continued our fall theme with these tissue paper leaves.  The leaf templates we used can be found in this Fall Themed Packet . We finally mastered beginning sounds and have moved on to ending sounds.  I found this fun set of ending sound games for free from This Reading Mama ! When she sees me pull one of these games out, she says, "Mom!  I want to do that first!" First off please ignore my feet... I forgot to crop this picture and I just don't have time to do that right at the moment!  We have been learning about being friends.  I found this cute sorting activity for free, but I could not relocate it to give you the link and the creator did not place her information anywhere on the product! On Wednesday, we had a field trip to Chick-fil-A with our MOPS group where we saw how they made lemonade.  My two children were fortunate enough to help...

Fun Fall Activities!

There are so many things you can do with fall!  This post will focus mainly around activities with fall leaves and acorns! To start off our fall theme, I had my daughter complete a mystery picture puzzle .  She loved putting the puzzle together to learn what we were going to study!  This mystery puzzle made a fall leaf ! The next day, we went on a leaf hunt!  My daughter had a blast finding and picking up all the different colored leaves!  We did a ton of projects with these leaves, like sorting by color, leaf prints, leaf rubbings and even had an unexpected surprise in our leaf bag when we got home!  I wrote about the activities we did with our leaves in more details in my post: Free Things to do with Real Leaves! I made these color and number playing cards for my daughter to practice her number words and color words.  We played War, Uno, Go Fish and matching with these cards! Of course, I game each game a fall leaf name.  W...

Kindergarten Week 6

Well, another slow week on the Kindergarten front.  My husband said it seemed like we don't "do" school more often than we do.  Some weeks it does seem like it!  Monday we were traveling, Wednesday I had a meeting and Friday her cousin came to town, so we really only had two formal school days this week.  In our defense, when we have "no school days" we still read and do art and simple things like that, just not any of our curriculum.  It is why I like homeschooling so much!  It is so flexible! We continued learning about resources this week, and focused on natural and man made resources .  We did this little sort to learn about the difference between the two. We continued learning about our family and this week focused on where we live.  I had my daughter draw our house.  Apparently her bedroom is a very important place to her as she drew the bunk beds that she and her little brother share and her night stand. We also expa...
