So I have been playing around with Pinterest and trying to figure things out as all I ever knew about Pinterest was to make and post and repost pins.  I did not know how to do a lot of the fancy stuff so today I took time to learn how to make a pinable picture in my blog post! These CVC word puzzles are a great center activity for those beginning to learn about CVC words and those who are ready to spell them on their own.  There are two versions to use! The larger candy corn puzzles can be mixed and matched to form just about any CVC word.  There is a recording page included to record the puzzles the student creates. The picture cards are for students to spell the word on the cards.  There are 24 different word cards.  Students build the candy corn puzzle in the space provided on the card. I had these finished before we left on vacation but just did not have time to get them up in my shop.  Between packing and taking care of three kids, it just did not happen. Well, now that we are home, I got them all spruced up and got them posted! Above is an example of one of the clip strip sheets for addition.  Simply print out on card stock and laminate for durability.  Then use a sharpy to label numbers 1-10 on clothes pins (you will need 2 sets of clothes pins per set of 16 cards). Students will clip the clothes pin with the correct sum on top of the problem (see below). The number clip strips are for numbers 1-10.  One set of these clip strips include matching the numbers to themselves in number form and the other set of strips show the numbers as dice, tally marks, base ten blocks and ten frames. Directions for the basic game: CVC Word Builder Game Print out pages 2-7 on heavy card stock. Cut the two game cards apart and cut out the letter squares. Laminate for durability.  You may want to print out multiple copies of the letter tiles as needed. How to play: (2-4 players) 1. Build a CVC word on the mat to start the game.  Use the colors to guide students on where to place the letters. 2.  Give each student 5 letter tiles. 3.  The first player will choose one of their letter tiles to place on top of another letter tile to create a new word. 4.  If it is the students turn and they cannot make a new word, then the student will draw a new letter tile in hopes of making a word. 5.  Game ends when no student can play a tile during their turn or you run out of letter tiles.
