Kindergarten Week 3

This week went much smoother than the first two!  We had no sick kids this week!  Yay!  While we did school everyday this week, I don't think I remembered to take the pictures I needed for my post, so I'll just post what I do have and hope that next week I do a better job! We continues our unit on apples.  I believe this will be our last week with apples as we exhausted many of my ideas! Here is a picture of our sink or float apple experiment from my Let's Be Scientist series!  This was our first experiment of the year and my daughter loved it!  To read more in depth about this experiment, you can read about it in my " Let's Be Scientists with Apples " post. My son was also enthusiastic this week about learning and participating with his sister.  If you follow my Facebook or Instagram page you would have seen two different craft projects that my kids did this week. Above, you see my son playing with some train cards .  I made these...

Kindergarten Week 2

Ever have a day, or week that did not go as planned?  Well this week has been that week!  All of us have been sick.  The older boy started it with a bad ear infection over the weekend.  My daughter started with a headache and soar throat on Tuesday.  I got that from her a few days later.  My husband stayed home on Thursday sick and the baby was diagnosed on Friday with a double ear infection.  So, we did not do nearly as much school as I had planned! We have been learning all about living and non-living things in our science lessons.  We are doing a lot of sorting activities and talking about what makes something a...

Living and Nonliving Sorting Activity

Image
I've been planning some science activities to do with my daughter for Kindergarten.  One of the first lessons in the science book I have talks about living and nonliving things.  I have created my own living and nonliving sorting activity that uses real photographs for her to sort into the appropriate category. I have also made an activity where she must determine if something is living or not based on answering questions.  This activity is called, "Am I living?"  It poses five questions to the student.  Do I grow and change?  Do I eat food?  Do I breathe?  Do I reproduce? and finally, Am I living.  If the answer to all of the first four questions is yes, then your picture is living.  If any of the answers are no, then the picture is not living.  Below is an example one question in the file. Both of these products are available for purchase in my store! To purchase the sorting activity, click HERE . To purchase "Am I ...
