Kindergarten Week 32

Image
This week was one of those weeks that started off great but ended very badly... for momma.  The kids loved their week this week. The week started with Sunday Easter celebrations and dying Easter eggs.  My two older kids tried boiled eggs for the first time and my daughter loved the whites but not the yolk... my son would not do more than a nibble of each. We finished off our unit on transportation this week.  My daughter had fun looking for pictures of transportation in our magazines and then making this collage. Here is the next flower craftivity for the AB family flower!  My daughter loves doing these so much! The end of the week was supposed to be a big family blast at the Georgia Aquarium.  The older two kids went up to Atlanta with their grandmother a few days before our trip.  We bought tickets ahead of time and my husband and I and the baby went up on Friday evening.  The kids had such a blast, but momma ended up not being a...

Kindergarten Weeks 30-31

Image
We have had some relaxed weeks the last two weeks and this upcoming week will be less as well.  It is spring break week for the public schools and we are planning a trip to the aquarium for the kids big birthday present.  My next weeks post will focus on that trip! This flower is just one in a part of a series of craftivities we have been working through.  This one is for the am family. My daughter still loves these puzzles, so I have begun making more to go along with the next word families we are working with. Continuing our transportation theme, we did this land, sea and air sort. In math, we have been working on making shapes with pattern blocks.  This has been a nice change to the addition and subtraction lessons we had been doing.  It is also the last lesson from our math curriculum.  I still have more math planned, but it is all extra! Word Family Dice Game Bundle

Image
I have been teaching my daughter about word families.  She is loving the activities I have made for her, especially these dice games.  There are several ways these dice games can be used.  I will high light my daughter's favorite games to use these with! In this set, you use the two dice to roll a word from a particular word family.  Then, you find the word in your answer sheet and color it in!  You can also color a graph with this dice game (an example seen below with a different type of dice). This is a two player version of the dice game.  One player rolls both dice and colors their word.  The second player then rolls the dice and colors their word in a different color.  The player with the most squares colored wins! With this sheet, the student will roll the dice and then color the square above the word.  You can have the student do this sheet two different ways.  One way is to have the student roll the dice a set num...

Kindergarten Week 29

Image
We had a very productive week last week, despite a 3 day sickness with the youngest and several doctor's visits. We continued our week with more transportation activities.  She drew this picture of a mom driving a car with her kid in the back seat.  They were going to spend the night at a friends's house... hence the suit case in the back.  She had a whole story to tell for her picture! We also continued our word family activities with our AG word family puzzles . We also did a transportation themed science activity called Sink the Boat ! We used a plastic container and tried to fill it with various objects to sink it! We used this recording sheet to predict how many of each item we thought we would need and then we tested our predictions. We found we needed 10 rocks to sink the boat, which was more than we predicted.  My daughter under predicted every category! We made this rainbow craft this week by finding colored pages from magazin...

Kindergarten Week 27

We have had such a fun week!  We celebrated our 100th day of homeschooling this week on Friday!  My daughter has been looking forward to this day ever since we reached day 90!  We did several activities all about the number 100! We had a 100th day snack where we had 10 pieces of 10 different snacks! We did a number search where we found the number 100. We made a watch... and glasses... and a hat!  We also played some games where we counted to 100.  All of the links to the printables above as well as many more ideas for the 100th day of school can be found on my 100 Ways to Celebrate the 100th Day of School post. At the beginning of the week, we finished our activities with the AN word family.  My daughter showed her fluency of the AN family words by reading these sentence strips. We also sorted AN words from AT words. At the end of the week, we began working on our AP family words.  She made this beautiful AP f...

Kindergarten Week 25

Image
We had another short week this week as my girl left this morning for a trip to see her great-grandmother.  We started 2 new units this week and had some fun activities to go along with them! The first new unit we started was learning about land forms.  I had not really prepared any in depth lessons on this subject and only planned to introduce the concepts and different types through pictures.  After looking at the pictures I thought I needed a way to at least test whether she understood, so I made these simple sheets for her to draw a picture.  We did 3 land forms on each sheet. Here is another fun craft that I found on pinterest!  She LOVED stamping her hearts to make this picture. The second new unit we did this week was to start our word families.  I plan to complete 1 word family a week with her.  This week was the -AT family.  She made this -AT family flower to introduce the words. We used this -AT family sentence mat ...
