Alphabet Flip Books

Image
One of my newest products are these alphabet flip books.  They are designed to help students to learn their letters by finding, tracing, writing and learning beginning sounds.  There are 6 different activities to engage your student's learning.   The first page is a seek and find page.  Students will circle the capital letter and put a square around the lowercase letters. The second page is a find and color page.  Students will color the circle that contains the correct letter. This page can be competed several ways.  Students can use magazine letter cut outs to complete the page or use the provided letters to cut and paste to the page. This page is for students to trace and write the letters.  They have one line for tracing each letter and two lines for writing each letter. This page is optional and for students who are ready to learn beginning sounds.  Students will color all the pictures that begin with the let...

Kindergarten Week 5

Image
Another week is done!  We had a lot of fun this week.  After having a day off on Monday due to Irma, we kicked our school days back up on Tuesday.  My daughter did NOT want to have school.  After four days off, who can blame her.  This is the reason we do year round school.  It keeps her in a routine and that keeps her from becoming upset when things have to change! We started our week off by going on a leaf hunt.  We started our fall themed activities last week and so this week we focused specifically on fall leaves. These pictures show my daughter picking up a leaf she found and the other is a close up of the collection of leaves and sticks we ended up with at the end of our walk!                                  As we were going through our pile of leaves and sorting them by ...

Alphabet Trains and a FREEBIE

Image
My son is only two and he LOVES trains.  It is his favorite thing to play with.  He sleeps with his Henry train every night.  He watches videos on Youtube of trains just going do the track.  Did I mention he LOVES trains? Well, this past week, he has really wanted to "play school" with his sister.  I've let him join in crafts and given him the letter A to color a couple of times and today, I decided to try out a new center activity I made with the intentions of saving it until he was older.  He saw me working on it on the computer and got really excited, "Mommy, train!  I watch it Henry train?"  He thought I was watching a Youtube video with Henry the train in it since the train car I was working on was green.  I explained that I wasn't watching a video but would print out the pictures for him to play with if he wanted me to.  He was super excited about that! After a paper jam (which took me 20 minutes to figure out how to get the ja...

Kindergarten Week 2

Image
Ever have a day, or week that did not go as planned?  Well this week has been that week!  All of us have been sick.  The older boy started it with a bad ear infection over the weekend.  My daughter started with a headache and soar throat on Tuesday.  I got that from her a few days later.  My husband stayed home on Thursday sick and the baby was diagnosed on Friday with a double ear infection.  So, we did not do nearly as much school as I had planned! Well, now on to our update on what we did do this week in Kindergarten. We continued working on sums up to five.  We did a Lego task card activity, which my daughter loved, to help review what we learned last week.  She built a math problem with her Legos, filled in the number bond and colored in the block strips. We have been learning all about living and non-living things in our science lessons.  We are doing a lot of sorting activities and talking about what makes something a...

Kindergarten Day 2

Image
We are still plugging away!  Day two is under our belt and it went quite well! This picture has to be my daughter's favorite part of school.  She loves being able to write on the board herself.  She draws what the weather looks like then works on some review work.   We continued working on our Eureka Math lessons. She has really picked this up quick and I had very little explaining to do. We are still working with beginning sounds.  I am happy with her progress.  She was able to do this sorting activity all on her own, except for asking what some of the pictures were.  The picture cards came from the Mailbox magazines.  I made this set when I was teaching Pre-K in Kentucky.  I'm glad I kept it! We continued with the sight word "we".  I only do one sight word at a time right now.  I started one sight word at a time with her in February this year.  She loves learning words to read.  Since she is strugglin...

First Day of Kindergarten

Image
Today marked the first day of Kindergarten.  We took it easy, only doing an activity every so often.  I'm trying to establish a routine so my daughter knows what to expect.  She thrives when there is a routine and I do too. We began by doing some calendar work.  She is still trying to learn her days of the week and months of the year. We then did some review work on the white board.  We are starting over with numbers to make sure she still remembers them all.  I also added a weather component this year since we did not do that during Pre-K.  She enjoyed looking out the window and drawing her own picture! I had looked at a variety of Kindergarten math curricula but most of them she already knew 90% of what was being taught since I taught her all of the number concepts and shapes in Pre-K.  The one I finally settled with, though loosely, was Eureka Math.  It is a free online curriculum.  I am using it as an outline for what...

Beginning and Ending Sounds Matching Game

Image
I was in the middle of organizing my daughter's kindergarten curriculum and saw where I wrote down "Beginning and Ending Sounds Game."  I searched all my print outs and game bags and could not find one game that matched that theme.  I could not remember for the life of my what it was I had, or what idea I had, when I wrote that down in my plans.  So, instead of stressing over it, I made this easy matching game. Students can simply match the cards that have the same beginning and ending sound or they can play a concentration game to match the pictures with the same beginning and ending sounds. Cards Included: bat – boat vine – van sock – snake night – net rug – ring log – leg hat – heart bag – bug crab – cab This product is available in color and black and white!   To get your copy of the beginning and ending sounds matching game, click HERE !
