Mini Eraser Ideas and Uses

If you are a primary or preschool teacher and you haven't heard of the mini eraser craze, then let me introduce it to you!  These small, thematic and fun shaped erasers have a variety of uses to any classroom and help keep things diverse and fun for students.

Patterning
Use mini erasers to create patterns.
One of the uses of erasers is for learning patterns.  Students can use the different shapes to make any kind of pattern you are teaching.

Counters
One of the most popular uses of erasers is as counters.  Students can use the different shapes to make count as high as you have erasers.

Mini erasers make great counters with counting cards and tens frames,
They can use counting cards like pictured above to add the correct number of erasers to the tens frames. (These cards can be found here:  Counting Cards)

Mini erasers make great counters for these train theme counting cars.
They can count the correct number of erasers and add them in a group or line to represent the numbers. (This picture is a freebie and can be found here: Number Train)

Use mini erasers to aid in addition and subtraction.
They can be used as counters to add and subtract. (The mats and cards can be found here: Addition Mats)

Bingo Markers
Another use of erasers is in place of bingo chips.  Simply use them to cover the correct squares just like you would bingo chips.

Answer Placers
Use mini erasers to mark the answers on dabbing and coloring sheets.

If you have dab it sheets or sheets that require students to seek and find particular answers on the page, you can laminate the pages and have the students mark the answers with mini erasers!  (Dab it sheet is here:  Pre-Primer Dab it Sheets)

Letter and Number Building
Use mini erasers to make letters and numbers for letter recognition and number recognition activities.
One of my favorite ways to use them is to build letters and numbers.  I give my kids the erasers that correspond to the letter they are learning about and have them build it using the template provided.  (These mats can be found here:  Letter and Number Mats)

Sorting
If students are learning to sort, mini erasers provide a great variety of characteristics to sort.
This is a simple and easy activity to do with your littles.  Simple give them a hand full and have the place the erasers into groups of your choosing, or their own choosing.
